Course Description & Learning Outcomes
Recently, there have been many pushes to remove middlemen and make the connection between business and consumer much more direct. And this is exactly what dApps promise to do. dApps operate as a new form of applications - one that harnesses the power of blockchain ledger technology to allow users to interact with one another without the need for third parties. This module provides an introduction to dApps so that participants can be better acquainted with its mechanisms and implementations. It explains what a dApp is, how it works and additionally discusses some of the opportunities that these apps allow. At the end of the 2-day module, participants will be able to: - Gain an understanding of what dApps are, how they operate and the role they play in Web 3.0 - Identify the categories and characteristics of dApps - Learn about the application of smart contract and distributed ledger technologies in a dApp - Understand benefits and shortcomings of dApp development - Explore the potential security issues associated with dApps - Know examples of existing dApps and the industries they operate in
