The Certificate in AI Ethics and Governance, a joint certification between Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Computer Society, aims to recognise and certify professionals in AI Ethics and Governance. The certification examines the candidate's competence in FIVE areas of AI Ethics & Governance.

Course Description & Learning Outcomes

This certification course is incorporated into the prestigious NTU’s FlexiMasters in Artificial Intelligence and AI Ethics and designed to help professionals who wish to acquire more knowledge in applying ethical AI practices in organisations and wish to understand and help societies to solve problems brought about by the impact of AI.

Prof Guan Cuntai, Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering President's Chair in Computer Science and Engineering Director, Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (AI.R) NTU Co-Lab Director, S-Lab for Advanced Intelligence, Nanyang Technological University
Prof Guan Cuntai

His research interests are in the fields of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI), Machine Learning, Neural Signal & Image Processing, Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence. He published 400 refereed journal and conference papers and holds 25 granted patents and patent applications. He licensed 15 patents/technologies to five companies in Singapore and USA. He delivered more than 70 keynote speeches and invited talks (including the keynote, Brain-Computer Interfaces for Stroke Rehabilitation, at the opening ceremony of the 7th International BCI Meeting, Asilomar, USA, May 2018). He is a recipient of the Annual BCI Research Award, the King Salman Award for Disability Research, the IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award, the Achiever of the Year (Research) Award, the Finalist of the President Technology Award, and the winner of BCI Competitions.

Prof Goh Wooi Boon

Wooi-Boon Goh received a B.Sc (1st Class Hons) in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK (1984), a M.Phil from University of Warwick, UK (1992), and a Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2006). He is currently an Associate Professor and Associate Chair (Faculty) in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, and his research interests include human-computer interaction and computer vision. Before joining NTU, he was senior engineer and later engineering section manager at the Mechanization and Automation department of Hewlett Packard Singapore. His industrial engineering expertise is in the area of developing robot-assisted automation systems.

His general research interests are in Data Science. In particular, his research focuses on geospatial data management, spatio-temporal data mining, recommendation, and mining social media data. He has published in prestigious journals (e.g., VLDB Journal, TODS, TKDE) and conferences (e.g., VLDB, SIGMOD, ICDE, KDD, WSDM, SIGIR, WWW). His citation in Google Scholar was over 14000 with H-index 61. He served as a PC co-chair for ICDE’2022, an associate chair of KDD’21, a PC co-chair for E&A track of VLDB 2014, and a PC vice-Chair for ICDE’18. He is an associate editor for ACM Transactions on Database Systems (TODS) and the vice Chair of ACM KDD Singapore chapter.

Asst Prof Yu Han

His research focuses on online convex optimization, ethical AI, federated machine learning and their applications in complex collaborative systems such as crowdsourcing. He has published over 150 research papers in book chapters, leading international conferences and journals including AAAI, IJCAI, CVPR, SIGIR, ASE, ACM MM, CIKM, AAMAS, NAACL, ICME and ACM/IEEE Transactions. He co-authored the book "Federated Learning" - the first monograph on the topic of federated learning. His research work has been recognized with 25 awards from conferences and journals. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE TNNLS. He is a founding Co-PI of the Trustworthy Federated Ubiquitous Learning (TrustFUL) Research Lab (https://trustful.federated-learning.org/).

Dr Kwong Yuk Wah

Experienced Chief Information Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry of public, private and people sectors. Skilled in IT Strategy, Leadership, Business Development, Strategic Planning, IT Outsourcing, Project management, Digitalisation, Personal Data Protection, and AI Ethics and Governance. Under her leadership, NTUC is a winner of National Infocomm Awards (NIA) 2014 for the Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology in the private sector. Strong information technology professional with a Doctor focused in Business Administration from Doctor of Business Admin, University of Newcastle, Australia. She was awarded an ASEAN CIO Award 2015 by IDG ASEAN; and is among the “ASEAN’s Top 50 Technology and Digital Chiefs 2019” which is the inaugural CIO50 in ASEAN by IDC, recognising the top 50 senior technology executives driving innovation and influencing rapid change.
