Rebecca Hall, Commissioner for Victoria to South East Asia

Rebecca is responsible for managing Victoria's interests within South East Asia by facilitating commercial engagements between businesses, attracting foreign direct investment into Victoria and strengthening bi-lateral relationships through strategic collaboration. One of her key priorities, in conjunction with Invest Victoria, is to provide bespoke assistance to tech companies from South East Asia to help facilitate their expansion plans into Melbourne and wider Victoria and introduce them to our rich technology and innovation ecosystem.

Prior to her appointment as Commissioner, Rebecca held a number of senior roles with local, state and federal governments throughout Australia, and with universities and peak bodies. She has held various non-for-profit board positions over the last decade, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was awarded the International Education Association of Australia's (IEAA) Leadership Award for her contribution to the sector.

Professor Ken Sloan has extensive international experience in business development and commercialisation, university governance, administrative and commercial leadership.
Professor Sloan joined Monash University as the inaugural Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Enterprise) in 2017. In 2020, his role and responsibilities were expanded to Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Senior Vice-President (Enterprise and Governance). As a member of University Executive, Professor Sloan is responsible for providing University-wide leadership and strategic support for the creation and acceleration of major partnership opportunities, government relations, precinct development, new opportunity creation and revenue development, commercialisation, innovation, entrepreneurship, strategic intelligence & insight, group governance and institutional risk.

Professor Sloan is a Professor (Practice) in the Department of Management in the Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University.

Professor Sloan has previously held roles as Registrar and Chief Operating Officer at the University of Warwick; as a Business Development Director, Universities and Higher Education, with SERCO, a FTSE 100 company; and as Special Advisor to the Stephen A. Schwarzman Education Foundation, based at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. He continues to serve as a panel chair for Schwarzman Scholars Asia Selection Round.
Professor Sloan has chaired and served on the boards of a number of institutional subsidiary companies and international fundraising and development trusts. He currently Chairs the Board of Monash Investment Holdings, the Audit and Risk Committee of the IITB-Monash Academy and Chair of the MTTI (Shenzhen) Executive Committee. He serves on the Boards of BioCurate Pty Ltd, Monash College and Warwick University Enterprises (Australia), and serves as Chair of the Victorian Heart Institute Strategic Advisory Board.

Professor Sloan's qualifications include an MA (Hons) from the University of Glasgow, an MBA from the Warwick Business School, and is a member of CPA Australia. He is a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators (FAUA) and a Fellow of Royal Society for the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA).

Suchitra Narayan, Director - Venture Building, SGInnovate

Suchi has almost 20 years of experience in venture building, product development, business strategy and corporate partnerships across global markets, with a strong focus in Australia and Asia. In her current capacity as Director - Venture Building, Suchi acts as a lead to new projects, provides business-building guidance in areas such as business planning, commercial strategy and scaling growth to new and ‘built-from-scratch' Deep Tech startups.
Prior to SGInnovate, she was Vice President, Sales and Service at Gartner where she was providing strategic advisory to APAC leaders on go-to-market, business development as well as commercial strategies in Asia. An engineer by training, she has a particular interest in Robotics, Health-tech and Artificial Intelligence. She is also passionate about supporting more women in pursuing an education and career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Shane Ambry, Co-Founder and CFO, Applied EV

Shane is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years' experience across multiple sectors including logistics, energy, telecommunications and mobility tech.

After a decade working within the professional accounting field with Deloitte and Ernst & Young, Shane moved into the broader commercial field, holding senior roles across financial operations, strategic planning, marketing, and product management.

In 2015 Shane (together with CEO Julian Broadbent) founded Applied EV, a Melbourne based technology company that is poised to dramatically improve the affordability and scalability of autonomous vehicles and autonomous fleet services. Over six years they have grown the business to a major presence in the mobility tech sector, attracting attention from major global players and recognition for their innovative technology, centred on the ‘Blanc Robot'.

Angela Krepcik, Regional Director, Victorian Government

The Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) is the Victorian Government's lead agency for creating the conditions to sustainably develop the Victorian economy and grow employment.

As Regional Director, Angela manages a diverse team of investment specialists, located across two regional metropolitan locations, and is responsible for providing strategic leadership to this group.

Working as part of the department's Business Investment and Engagement Division the Southern and Eastern Offices lead by Angela promotes Victoria as an investment destination and works with companies to attract and deliver investment projects. Angela also actively works towards managing the department's investment pipeline and engages with domestic and international businesses with growth potential. Her team is also responsible for collecting targeted, sector-specific business intelligence and identifying barriers to investment and growth.

Angela has held a number of senior positions within the department over the past seven years. Prior to this Angela was the Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Manufacturing Australia, an industry association for Australia's manufacturing sector. Angela's role included advocating for manufacturing in Australia including leadership of many state and national government initiatives. She has also represented the industry domestically and globally in areas such as automotive, defence and aerospace and general manufacturing.
