Professor Sang Kyun Cha, Distinguished Professor, Seoul National University and Executive Venture Partner, Storm Ventures,Sang Kyun Cha is a professor, an innovator, and an entrepreneurial investor. He worked on three generations of commercialized in-memory database technology since he joined Seoul National University in 1992. In 2000, he founded Transact In Memory, Inc. with his vision of developing an enterprise in-memory database system called P*TIME (Parallel* Transact-In-Memory Engine). The company was acquired by SAP in late 2005. After the acquisition, he established SAP Labs Korea and led SAP’s secret research toward SAP HANA, and took the role of one of two co-founding chief architects of SAP HANA until early 2014. Prof. Cha is also the founding director of Big Data institute and the founding dean of Graduate School of Data Science at Seoul National University. He actively coaches startup founders while consulting venture capitals in Silicon Valley. Storm Ventures recently invited him as an executive venture partner.
