Our second speaker, Tim Cruttenden, will provide a unique perspective on 'Venture Capitalists and Startups'. He will reveal how world-class General Partners select and support startup entrepreneurs, offering invaluable advice for those navigating the startup landscape.

Speaker's Profile:
David Gann, Director, VenCap International plc
David joined the Board of VenCap International plc in 2020. He is a university and business leader with many years’ experience of innovation strategy, technology management and entrepreneurship, advising technology companies and mentoring start-ups. He is Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at Saïd Business School. He was appointed CBE in the 2010 Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to engineering. Until December 2023, David was Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Development and External Affairs at Oxford University. He is Chairman of UK Industrial Fusion Solutions and was previously Chairman of the UK Atomic Energy Authority. He is a Director and Trustee of the London Symphony Orchestra and of the Villars Institute in Switzerland. David is a Chartered Civil Engineer with a PhD in Industrial Economics and has published 8 books on technological innovation and its commercialisation.

Tim Cruttenden, CEO, VenCap International plc
Tim is VenCap’s CEO and is a member of the VenCap investment committee. He has been investing in venture capital funds since 1994. Prior to joining VenCap, Tim was an Economist and Statistician at the Association of British Insurers. He is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals. Tim is a Non-Executive Director of Polar Capital Technology Trust and Merian Chrysalis Investment Company Limited.

Dr Viveka Kalidasan, Founder & CEO, River Venture Studio
Dr. Viveka Kalidasan, recognised as an MIT 35 Innovator Under 35 and Singapore Top 100 Woman in Tech, is the Founder-CEO of River Venture Studio, the world's first inclusive Industry 5.0 accelerator. She also founded The Edify Project, a venture building partner serving startups and corporates. As a Board Director of SSACCI, she champions partnerships. She established Let-Lab, an innovation lab in Singapore, creating Singapore’s Industry 4.0 ecosystem and empowering startups in the semiconductor Industry 4.0 space. As an innovator, she has developed patient-centric deep-tech medical devices, with a focus on FemTech solutions. Her research on wireless sensing sutures has been published in Nature Biomedical Engineering. A mentor to startups and aspiring talents, she can be reached via LinkedIn, coffee, or a smile.
