Discover what it takes to turn your research into a successful business at this session with Innovators Under 35 alumni, Dr Benjamin Tee, and his fellow entrepreneurial scientist, Dr Harold Soh.
Engage in an informal discussion with the innovators. And hear from their perspectives on navigating the world of Deep Tech commercialisation, finding their focus amidst their wide area of interests from healthcare to robotics, the arduous journey of patenting, and finally in achieving success with their latest project in creating the sense of touch in robots.
In collaboration with EmTech Asia, SGInnovate is holding this forum for clinicians and scientists residing in Singapore who are looking to commercialise their research in the fields of Human Health, Urban Sustainability and Supply Chain & Logistics.

Dr Harold Soh, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore (NUS)
Dr Harold Soh develops robots that interact naturally with people in the physical world. In his role as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at NUS, Harold directs the Collaborative, Learning, and Adaptive Robots (CLeAR) lab and builds tactile intelligence for autonomous robots. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London, where his research on smart children's wheelchairs was shortlisted for the UK James Dyson Award in 2012. Prior to joining NUS, Harold held research positions at MIT's SMART Centre and the University of Toronto. He has published scientific papers at the top conferences in robotics (RSS, ICRA, IROS, HRI) and machine learning (NeurIPS, AAAI, CVPR), and his research has been recognised with several best paper nominations.
Dr Benjamin Tee, President's Assistant Professor, Materials Science and Engineering Department, National University of Singapore (NUS)
Dr Benjamin Tee is appointed President's Assistant Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at NUS, where he leads the Sensor.AI Labs. He was awarded the prestigious Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship in 2017. He obtained his doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and applied a needs-driven R&D approach as a Stanford Biodesign Global Innovation Fellow in 2014. He has developed and patented several award-winning electronic skin sensor technologies. He is an MIT TR35 Innovator (Global) in 2015 and NRF Fellow. His research group aims to develop technologies at the intersection of materials science, mechanics, electronics and biology, with a focus on sensitive electronic skins that has tremendous potential to advance global healthcare technologies in an increasingly Artificial Intelligence era.

Suchitra Narayan, Director of Venture Building, SGInnovate
Suchi has almost 20 years of experience in product management, business development, new product launches and corporate partnerships across global markets, with a strong focus in Australia and Asia. In her current capacity as Director of Venture Building, Suchi provides business-building guidance in areas such as business planning, commercial strategy and scaling growth to new and ‘build-from-scratch' Deep Tech startups. Prior to SGInnovate, she was Vice President, Sales and Service at Gartner where she was providing strategic advisory to APAC leaders on go-to-market, business development as well as commercial strategies in Asia. An engineer by training, she has a particular interest in Artificial Intelligence. She is also passionate about supporting more women in pursuing an education and career in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
