Overview
You must have heard a lot of news about Quantum Computers lately. But do you know that today you can not only run programmes on actual Quantum Computers (e.g. via IBM Quantum Experience), but also play games on them? This webinar talk will introduce to you the wonderland of Quantum games.
First, join us for a talk on how games can educate players on cutting edge technology like Quantum computing. Get ready to imagine the future of gaming on Quantum Computers!
Next, join us on the topic of playing with Quantum Mechanics. We will introduce you to Quantum Game with Photons 2 (funded by the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore), an online puzzle game featuring Quantum components that accurately reflect physics principles.
Let's all have some fun from home with games and Quantum Mechanics!
Date 28 April 2020, Tuesday
Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm
Programme Details:
4:00pm - 4:50pm:
- Talk on Quantum Computer Games (Junye Huang)
- Talk on Playing with Quantum Mechanics (Piotr Migda)
4.50pm - 5.00pm Q&A
Speaker's Profiles:
Junye Huang, Quantum Developer Advocate, IBM Quantum
Junye Huang is a Quantum Developer Advocate at IBM Quantum, focusing on Quantum education in the Asia Pacific region. He is a PhD candidate in experimental low temperature physics at National University of Singapore. His passion for Quantum computing and video games drove him to create games for Quantum Computers. Working together with teammates, he created QPong, a Quantum version of the classic video game Pong, which was subsequently ported to a physical Quantum arcade machine and toured around Europe, including EU Quantum Flagship Event in Helsinki in Oct 2019.
Piotr Migda, Independent Deep Learning Consultant
Piotr Migda is an independent Deep Learning consultant, with a Ph.D. in Quantum Physics (ICFO, Castelldefels). Piotr is now based in Warsaw (Poland), and he lives by this quote:
"Curiosity is the primary motivation in my life. But there is one thing I enjoy more than learning sharing knowledge. I do whatever it takes simplifying ideas, writing code, creating interactive data visualisations, or even - developing games."
Piotr has authored a number of popular blog posts at https://p.migdal.pl, including "Learning Deep Learning with Keras" and "Simple diagrams of convoluted neural networks". Currently, he is focusing on AI research at ECC Games and developing the Quantum Game with Photons 2 (funded by the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore).
