Overview
The digital economy runs on data. These days, individuals are sharing more and more of their personal data with various organisations. Yet, it is not uncommon that we have seen cases of data breaches or misuse of the personal data that violate privacy and causing harms to individuals. Privacy engineering is an emerging discipline which aims to ensure that privacy frameworks, methodologies and techniques are used to embed privacy into products and systems.
Course Description & Learning Outcomes
In this course, participants will learn the essence of privacy engineering with a multi-disciplinary perspective, from law and technology to usability and business. Participants will gain practical knowledge of privacy engineering principles and frameworks. They will learn the principles of privacy, data protection laws, privacy-by-design approach, privacy risk models, techniques in privacy designs and dark patterns, privacy enhancing technologies (PET), and privacy challenges from technologies development from surveillance to Internet of Things (IoT) to Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Recommended Prerequisites
Diploma with some basic knowledge of information technology.
