Overview

Trainees will gain the necessary well-rounded knowledge and essential grasp in Human-Centred Design and User Experience for employment opportunities with tech, product companies and/or consulting agencies. They will learn the skills, tools and techniques relevant in launching or expanding a successful career as a UX or Product Designer or Product Manager:

  • The ability to integrate future-focused human-centred design thinking into your work, creating faster, simpler, and more intuitive experiences between humans and technology.

  • Gain fluency with the core UX design process, from user research to usability to interaction design, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing – with industry-leading platforms like Figma – to design intuitive digital experiences that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users.

  • The ability to transfer a product’s development, business objectives, research, insights, content and layout into an attractive, usable and responsive experience for users that solve real problems under the Design Thinking frameworks.

Course Description & Learning Outcomes

UX Fundamentals

  • Understand the role of a UX Designer in creating usable, enjoyable, and accessible digital experiences.

  • Learn the principles of designing products that provide value and satisfaction to users.

  • Explore the importance of user experience across websites, apps, and services.

UX Design Foundation

  • Develop skills in interaction design, brainstorming, and ideating user-centric solutions.

  • Learn to create wireframes, prototypes, and test responsive websites and mobile apps.

  • Understand gamification principles and their application in design.

Digital Product Management Foundation

  • Gain foundational skills for managing digital projects, including websites and software.

  • Learn to drive product success through customer-centric solutions and continuous delivery.

  • Master techniques for product development, launch, and improvement in a modern business.

UX Research Foundation

  • Understand the importance of user research in validating design decisions.

  • Learn qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to uncover user needs.

  • Apply user insights to guide the product design process.

UI Design Foundation

  • Explore the principles of User Interface (UI) design and its role in usability.

  • Learn to create design systems, mockups, and collaborate with developers effectively.

  • Understand the foundation of branding and the aesthetic elements of UI design.

Data-Driven Design Foundation

  • Learn to use data and analytics to inform design decisions and validate ideas.

  • Explore rapid prototyping, A/B testing, and the role of insights in product design.

  • Develop skills to visualise data for impactful reporting and pitching.

Methodology

  • Engage in Active Social Learning through hands-on, peer-interactive, and real-world projects.

  • Apply experiential learning techniques based on established learning models.

  • Build a professional portfolio through project-based learning and mentor guidance.

Applicants will be required to undergo a shortlisting process where they must share their résumé and complete a pre-course assessment. Our instructors and career consultants will review applicants to assess their suitability before deciding whether to shortlist them for the course.

With over 10 years of tech industry experience, Joshua specialises in strategic communications with a focus on user experience (UX) and consulting. Previously a digital consultant at Ernst & Young, he advises enterprise businesses, collaborating with stakeholders and tech teams to shape future digital experiences. As part of PIXEL’s UI/UX and Design Thinking panel, he coaches Singapore-based start-ups and SMEs to enhance their digital products and services. A mentor on ADPList and Springboard, Joshua is passionate about empowering new UX designers and ranked in the top 10% of mentors in Asia Pacific. An illustrator as well, he has been commissioned by Microsoft for office murals and featured in CLEO magazine.
