Showcase breakthrough ideas at Falling Walls Lab Singapore 2024

SGInnovate is pleased to announce the return of Falling Walls Lab Singapore, the Singapore leg of the global interdisciplinary pitch competition. Falling Walls Lab Singapore invites students, researchers, and early-career professionals with ground-breaking ideas to present their projects to distinguished industry leaders, while developing their communication skills and connecting with potential collaborators and mentors.

What is Falling Walls Lab?
Falling Walls Lab is an international pitch competition and networking platform that challenges participants to showcase their innovative ideas and research that have the potential to make a positive impact on society. Participants are given three minutes to present their ideas in front of a distinguished jury and audience from various fields.

The Singapore edition of the competition will be held this September, with the winner of the competition representing Singapore at the finale to be held in Berlin.

What projects are accepted?
If you have a breakthrough idea, research project, business model or a social initiative which is at the same time original, new, innovative, and relevant to the problems of today, we welcome you to apply.

Your pitch could be about a project you have already implemented, a research topic you are currently developing, or a business idea yet to be realised.

Why participate?

• Global Recognition: The winner of the Singapore competition will be given the opportunity to travel to Berlin and compete with other international winners from Lab locations all over the world.
• Networking: Connect with like-minded individuals, experts, and potential collaborators.
• Be seen: Showcase your work to a diverse audience of innovators, entrepreneurs, thinkers, and policymakers.

Who can participate?
Participants must fulfil at least one of the following formal requirements:

• Currently enrolled in a university
• Currently a postdoc
• Received a Bachelor’s degree no more than 10 years ago
• Received a Master’s degree no more than 7 years ago
• Received a PhD no more than 5 years ago

Participants must also be 18 years or older at the time of application submission.

*An MD (medical degree excluding a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a Master’s degree. A Dr. med. (medical degree including a doctoral dissertation) is considered equivalent to a PhD. The global diversity of academic degrees worldwide is recognised.

• Applications must be submitted in English
• Submitting multiple applications is not permitted
• This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Past participants are no longer eligible to apply.
