Workshop for Deep Tech Founders & Leaders: Navigating Technology and Uncertainty with Strategic Foresight

0%

Overview

As a Deep Tech founder or leader, you're faced with making high-stakes decisions today on emerging technologies, fundraising timing, market entry and partnerships. Often, these decisions are made years before you'll know if you called it right. And, what if the future doesn't unfold the way that you had planned for?

Strategic foresight isn't about predicting what will happen. It is about strengthening our ability to hold multiple plausible futures, explore alternative scenarios, and use those perspectives to sharpen the decisions we make today. By spending time with different possible futures, we can challenge assumptions and spot emerging opportunities and risks.

Join Joakim Skog Head of Office & Strategy at Vinnova Silicon Valley and Shawn Chua Practice Lead  Serious Games and Applied Simulations at Civil Service College Singapore for this hands-on workshop that is built specifically for Deep Tech founders and leaders navigating today’s uncertainties. We will explore how strategic foresight works as a practical tool for thinking, working and deciding under uncertainty by using the future to think differently about the present.

What you’ll walk away with:

  • Basic understanding of the necessity of future thinking and strategic foresight

  • Practical ways to question the assumptions behind your current business strategy

  • How to consider different future conditions that could impact or shape your business strategy

  • A repeatable thinking tool you can bring back to your team to shape consequential decisions

If you're a Deep Tech founder or leader grappling with how to plan ahead in an uncertain landscape, this workshop is for you. Come ready to roll up your sleeves and participate — this is a hands-on session where you'll learn to apply foresight tools directly to your own strategy.

Workshop Agenda:

  • Introduction to Strategic Foresight: A foundational overview designed for those new to the concept.

  • Fireside Chat & Discussion: Joakim Skog and Shawn Chua discuss and share real-world experiences, lessons, and practical methods from their work.

  • Hands-On Scenario Workshop: An interactive session applying impactful, easy-to-use methods to construct and work with future scenarios.

Capacity for this workshop is limited to 30 participants. Only participants who have successfully registered will receive a confirmation email.

SG Eco Loop Showcase - 40 Sustainability Prototypes by Youth Innovators

0%

Overview

Singapore generated approximately 1,700,000 tonnes of plastic and food waste in 2025, and recycled only ~10% of this. Over six weeks, 130+ students across 40 teams have been working on ways to change these numbers, one prototype at a time, alongside industry mentors and partners challenging them to build real solutions for real problems. They will be competing for a chance to win the top prizes for Biggest Impact and Best Innovation.

Come see what they built. Expect solutions built for actual deployment, not just a slide deck. Teams have spent weeks turning ideas into working prototypes and mapping out how each one could scale beyond the programme. A few flavours of what you'll find on the floor: black soldier flies turning food scraps into value, upcycled materials reborn as everyday products, tools that map where waste really goes, campaigns designed to make sorting habits stick, and tech ranging from AI to augmented reality.

Bring your family, bring your friends, and vote for the projects that convince you we can rethink consumption and that waste has a second life.

SG Eco Loop | The Nationwide Quest for the Next Generation of Sustainable Innovators

SG Eco Loop is a nationwide programme for IHL students to learn about plastic and food waste by building real prototypes. Students go through a six-week journey covering an online kickoff, a hackathon, mentor check-ins, and a public showcase.

This Singapore Deep-Tech Alliance (SDTA) programme is funded by the SG Eco Fund under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment and catalysed by Temasek Foundation’s OSCAR Grant. SG Eco Loop aims to engage 4,000 students and supporters to divert 10,000 kg of food and plastic waste over the next 2 years.
